For even greater quality, comfort and multiple-award-winning skiing enjoyment, the Wildkogel lift company is building the new 10-passenger gondola lift known as the “Ganzer X-press”. This investment of approximately 13 million euro guarantees the Wildkogel Arena will continue to be an attractive destination with a shining future.
The new “Ganzer X-press” 10-passenger gondola lift runs from the Ganzer Grundalpe to the top of the Pfeifferköpfl, crossing the line of the existing Pfeifferköpfl 6-seater chairlift and requiring construction of a new mountain station some 60 meters west of the existing mountain station of the Pfeifferköpfl lift. This will make any waiting times for the Pfeifferköpfl lift a thing of the past, allowing skiers to get even more enjoyment out of their day of skiing. Construction work is already going at full speed, with the new state-of-the-art gondola lift set to go into operation right in time for the start of winter season 2017/18.
The project draws upon the strength and know-how of companies located within the immediate region. This means that the lift company is providing an important impulse to the local economy. The lift line itself has been developed to incorporate features that have minimal impact on the environment.
The couplable lift design makes it even easier and convenient to enter each gondola. The cabins themselves offer passengers outstanding comfort during the ride up to the mountain station, a ride which last only about 4 minutes.
The 50 ten-passenger gondolas are capable of transporting as many as 2,870 passengers per hour up the mountain, a distance of 1510 meters and a vertical gain of 403 m. The lift is powered by a unique, eco-friendly system known as “DirektDrive”, an energy- efficient and low-noise alternative developed by the “Leitner ropeways” company.
The project will result in the creation of some 2.5 km of new pistes, which will also be equipped with snowmaking capability. Clearly, this will make for even more reliable snow conditions and guarantee the multiple-award-winning quality of our pistes that we have become accustomed to. In future, the Wildkogel Arena will be able to offer guests a grand total of 64 km of beautifully groomed pistes. But it isn’t only conventional skiers who will benefit from the quality improvements: The opportunities for freeridersand variant skiers in the Wildkogel Arena will grow significantly as well. The new lift will serve as the gateway to an attractive and variety-packed area for variant fans covering more than 15 hectares – an Eldorado, in other words, for freeriders.
